In Southern California — where summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F and low humidity accelerates evaporation — it's a significant source of waste.
Studies from the EPA and various water districts consistently show that conventional sprinkler systems lose 30–50% of the water they apply before it ever reaches the root zone, due to evaporation, wind drift, and runoff. We run a main supply line across the property and branch lateral lines off it to reach each planting area. Spacing and routing is planned to minimize pressure loss and ensure even coverage across the whole system.
Each plant gets emitters placed at its root zone — not at the trunk, but slightly outward where the feeder roots actually are. For larger plants and trees, multiple emitters ensure the root zone gets thorough coverage without waterlogging any single spot.
